CARMARTHENSHIRE, Wales — South Carolina rising junior Justine Dreher was eliminated by Germany’s Karolin Lampert, 4 and 3, on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship at the Machynys Peninsula Golf Club in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Dreher won two holes and halved seven in the match, while Lampert won six holes on her way to advancing to the semifinals.

A native of Valbonne, France, Dreher advanced to her match with Lampert by defeating Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud, 4 and 2, in the third round on Friday morning.

Dreher was one of 64 golfers out of a field of 138 to advance from stroke play to match play. She pulled off the biggest upset of the event in the second round by claiming a 2 up victory over defending champion Stephanie Meadow, a three-time first team All-American at Alabama.
