NORMAN, Okla. — South Carolina rising sophomore Chelsey Couch fell short of making the cut at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship on Tuesday after shooting a second-round 77 (+5) at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.
Couch missed the cut of 9-over par by just three strokes as she tied for 87th with a two-round total of 156 (+12). The top 64 golfers advanced to the match play portion of the event, which runs Wednesday through Saturday.
A native of Ware Shoals, S.C., Couch was one of 156 golfers to make the field out of more than 700 entrants. During her first season with the Gamecocks, she played in five tournaments, posting a scoring average of 76.92. Her best finish came at the UCF Challenge in February, where she tied for 36th.
