COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin and his wife Anya hosted the Inaugural “Coaches vs. Cancer” benefit, the “B-Ball of the South” in early May at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. The event was a fantastic success, raising more than $140,000 from charitable donations and a live auction, which will benefit “Coaches vs. Cancer,” a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The over 250 in attendance enjoyed the Kentucky Derby style themed ball, which featured a live auction of items such as signed game-worn shoes from NBA stars Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, as well as other items such as dinner at the Martins and a personalized guitar from Darius Rucker.
The Martins, longtime supporters of Coaches vs. Cancer events across the country, are looking to make this an annual event for the Columbia community. Continue to visit GamecocksOnline.com for further details.
