LORTON, Va. — South Carolina junior Sean Kelly posted a second-round 71 (+1) on Tuesday at Laurel Hill Golf Club to wrap up stroke play at the 88th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in a tie for 39th, securing a spot in the round of 64 for match play.

Kelly finished stroke play with a total of 143 (+3) after recording three birdies, four bogeys and 11 pars on Tuesday afternoon. Garrett Rank claimed medalist honors with a total of 132 (-8), while the cut for match play was set at 5-over par.

A native of Staten Island, N.Y., Kelly will square off with P.J. Samiere in match play on Wednesday, with play beginning at 1:10 p.m. The winner will advance to the round of 32 on Thursday. Live scoring will be available at USGA.org.
