COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina head women’s golf coach Kalen Harris released the Gamecocks’ schedule for the 2013-14 season on Friday.

The Gamecocks will continue the trend of playing one of the toughest schedules in the country under Harris. South Carolina has four tournaments lined up for the fall and four for the spring to make up a schedule that is similar in strength to last year’s, which was the second toughest in the country according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.

“This season’s schedule is similar to years past,” Harris said. “It will be highly competitive and expose us to the level of competition that is necessary to prepare our team to contend for championships in the postseason. Our schedule will allow us the opportunity to see a good mix of the East and West coast teams. I am excited about our talent level and I am looking forward to competing against the best in the SEC and the rest of the country.”

South Carolina had yet another successful campaign a year ago as it finished third at the SEC Championship, fourth at the NCAA West Regional and 20th at the NCAA Championships, marking the fourth straight year the program has finished in the top 20. The Gamecocks return four of the five golfers from last season’s postseason lineup in senior Suzie Lee, junior Justine Dreher and sophomores Sarah Schmelzel and Mary Fran Hillow.

The Cougar Classic will be the opening tournament on South Carolina’s schedule for the fourth straight year. The 54-hole event runs Sept. 8-10 at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C.

After a week off, the Gamecocks will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Holston Hills Country Club on Sept. 20-22.

On Oct. 11-13, South Carolina will make its ninth consecutive trip to the Tar Hill Invitational at the UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Gamecocks will close out their fall schedule on Oct. 25-27 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. The 54-hole event will be held at the Country Club of Landfall.

After opening the spring at the UCF Challenge the last three seasons, South Carolina will mix it up in 2014 by teeing off at the Florida State Match-Up at SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., on Feb. 14-16.

The Gamecocks will host the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate for the third straight year on March 7-9 at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The event has become one of the premier golf tournaments in all of collegiate golf, drawing highly ranked teams from all across the country. South Carolina will wrap up the month at the Bryan National Collegiate on March 28-30 at Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, N.C.

South Carolina will get one last tune-up before postseason play at the PING ASU Invitational on April 4-6 at the ASU Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.

The 2014 SEC Championship will be contested on April 18-20 at Greystone Golf Club in Birmingham, Ala. NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 8-10 at three sites – SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla., and Tumble Creek at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash.
