South Carolina associate head coach Lisa Navas released the softball team’s walk-on tryout schedule for the upcoming 2014 season this afternoon.

The on-field portion is scheduled for Mon., Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. EDT, with all interested parties needing to do two steps before that day. Anyone who may want to try out should email Navas (lnavas@mailbox.sc.edu) with her name and position, and each would need to make the interest meeting on Mon., Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the team room at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field. The team room is located on the first-base side of the new stadium on the concourse level, while the facility is off Marion St. in the Athletics Village near the Roost Dorm.

Those trying out are asked to dress casually and bring a copy of their class schedule to the Sept. 9 meeting, while on the tryout day they will need to have completed the paperwork that they receive at the first meeting. For the tryout, the person will need her own glove, cleats and regular athletic (tennis or turf) shoes.

The Gamecocks earned their first postseason berth under head coach Beverly Smith in 2013, reaching the Austin Regional championship round. The program hosts the 2014 Southeastern Conference Tournament this upcoming May.
