Feb. 17, 2014
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina posted another top-10 grade-point average in the country with its 2013 cross country team, the US Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association announced, while Meredith Mill garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in her final season.
Mill, who finished just outside of the all-region team in the NCAA Southeast Regional in November, picked up the honor as she qualified with her finish in the top 10 percent of the massive field in the regional event. She finished her undergraduate career with a 4.00 GPA in political science and graduated in December in three-and-a-half years. She joins Kayla Lampe as Gamecocks who have taken the award in the past two years.
The Gamecocks’ 3.70 GPA ranked ninth in the country and was one of two SEC teams among the top 10, joined by Alabama. It’s the fourth time in the last seven years that the Gamecocks have tallied a GPA in the top 10 in NCAA Division I.
