Feb. 26, 2014
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team is ranked No. 1 for a school record 13th straight week in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) rankings, it was announced today. No previous South Carolina team in any sport has ever been ranked No. 1 for a longer stretch during a season. The Gamecocks have been ranked No. 1 since Dec. 2, 2013.
Carolina (9-2, 3-2 SEC) is on a four-meet winning streak and coming off an 11-6 victory over Texas A&M on Saturday. The Aggies drop out of the top-10 in this week’s rankings, marking the first time in the SEC era that all four teams have not been in the top-10.
The Gamecocks return to action this Saturday, when South Carolina hosts No. 2 Auburn at 10 a.m. in Blythewood for the team’s annual Equifest Kids Day. There will be a variety of games and activities for kids, and participation in all Equifest events is free. Admission is also free to all South Carolina equestrian meets.
