Gamecocks Tied for Eighth Place At Bryan National Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. –

The South Carolina women’s golf team shot a 14-over 302 on Friday at Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center and is currently tied for eighth place after the opening round of the Bryan National Collegiate.

Duke is in currently in first place with a score of 292 (+4). Michigan State is in second place and Florida State is in third place with first rounds scores of 294 (+6) and 295 (+7), respectively.

Junior Justine Dreher carded the low round of the day for the Garnet and Black with an even-par 72. The Valbonne, France native is currently tied for 6th place.

Senior Samantha Swinehart finished next on the individual leaderboard for South Carolina in a tie for 25th place after shooting a 3-over 75.

With a first round score of 76 (+4), sophomore Sarah Schmelzel finished the day tied for 34th place.

Freshman Katelyn Dambaugh and sophomore Mary Fran Hillow shots rounds of 79 (+7) and 81 (+9), respectively. Dambaugh is currently tied for 69th place while Hillow is tied 84th place.

Competing as an individual, senior Suzie Lee carded a 1-over 73 and is currently tied for 10th place.

Laetitia Duke of Duke, Kelly Grassel of Michigan State and Portland Rosen of Virginia all carded a 2-under 70 in the opening round and are tied for first place.

Second round play is scheduled to begin Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring is available here.
