The University of South Carolina placed 35th among 297 total teams in the final 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, it was announced today. The finish was the highest for Carolina since the 2006-07 season and 12 spots better than it’s 47th finish last year.
South Carolina has never finished out of the top 50. Stanford won its 20th consecutive Directors’ Cup, followed by Florida, Notre Dame, Virginia and Penn State.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 20 sports – 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
