COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina men’s golf program released its schedule for the 2014-15 season on Friday.

The Gamecocks are slated to compete in four tournaments in the fall and five in the spring heading into postseason play.

South Carolina will look to keep momentum going from the 2013-14 season, one of the most successful in program history. The Gamecocks won three tournaments, matched the school record with nine top-five finishes and placed ninth at the NCAA Championship, the program’s second highest finish at the event in school history. With seven golfers returning from that team, South Carolina head coach Bill McDonald is looking forward to seeing his squad grind through one of the most challenging schedules in the country.

“We have a very challenging and exciting schedule this year, and I think it’s the most difficult we have faced in my tenure,” McDonald said. “This team deserves to be tested, and I think the competition we will face will most certainly help prepare us for the SEC Championship and hopefully another solid run in the postseason.”

After opening the season at the Carpet Capital Collegiate the last eight years, the Gamecocks will mix things up this season with a season-opening trip to Pebble Beach, Calif., for The Carmel Cup. The tournament will be held Aug. 29-31 at the historic Pebble Beach Golf Links, the No. 1 ranked public course in America by Golf Digest and host of five U.S. Open Championships.

Following their trip to California, the Gamecocks will play in the Carpet Capital Collegiate for the ninth straight season. The 54-hole event will take place Sept. 5-7 at The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Ga.

After an off week, Carolina will be back in action on Sept. 19-21 in the DICK’s Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tenn. The field will be made up of six teams from the SEC – the Gamecocks, Georgia, Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt – and six teams from the ACC – Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina State and Virginia. The teams will play 54 holes of stroke play, followed by an 18-hole match play conference finale.

The Gamecocks will close out their fall schedule by hosting the inaugural Camden Collegiate Invitational. The event will run Oct. 18-19 at Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. The teams will play 36 holes on Oct. 18 and 18 on Oct. 19.

For the third straight year, South Carolina will open its spring schedule at the Bayou City Collegiate Championships, which will be held Feb. 20-22 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas. The Gamecocks finished third at the event in 2013 and 2014.

March will be the busiest month of the year for South Carolina with four tournaments on the schedule. The Gamecocks open the month at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. The tournament will be held March 9-10 at the historic Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C. Carolina will then play in the Seminole Intercollegiate on March 13-15 at Southwood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., before traveling to Palm City, Fla., to play in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on March 23-24 at the Floridian. The Gamecocks will wrap up their regular-season schedule with their 11th-straight appearance at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on March 29-31 at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.

The 2015 SEC Championship is scheduled for April 17-19 at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga.

NCAA Regionals will be held May 14-16 at six sites – The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind., UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C., The Farms Golf Club in San Diego, Calif., The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas, Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash., and The Course at Yale in New Haven Conn.

The NCAA Championship is scheduled for May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
