COLUMBIA, S.C. – Rising sophomore Jussi Kanervo will begin competition Tuesday at the 2014 European Championships held in Zurich, Switzerland. He will represent his native Finland in both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles.
Kanervo will start his week in the qualifying rounds of the 400-meter hurdles at 5 a.m., ET, on Tuesday. In May, he set a personal best in the event with a time of 50.67 at the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla. Semifinals are slated for 11:55 a.m., on Wednesday, with finals at 2:52 p.m., on Friday.
The native of Espoo, Finland, will run his qualifying race in the 110-meter hurdles on Wednesday at 5:40 a.m., ET. Kanervo set a personal best of 13.88 in Jämsä, Finland. The semifinals are scheduled for 1:15 p.m., on Thursday, with the finals beginning later that afternoon at 3:50 p.m.
