BLACKSBURG, VA. – A quartet of Gamecocks were in action Friday evening, competing at the Virginia Tech Challenge in the final weekend of the regular season. Though they would only compete in two events, they would make them count, placing all four in the top three, highlighted by Dondre Echols’ win in the 60-meter hurdles.

Carolina stacked the top three in both the preliminary and final round of the hurdles. In the opening race, Isaiah Moore took first overall with a time of 7.88, followed by Echols and Jussi Kanervo. The finals would flip-flop but was still full of the Garnet and Black. Echols took .09 seconds off his preliminary time to win the final, followed by Kanervo and Moore.

In the team’s other event, Michael Wamer finished second in the triple jump. His jump of 15.27 meters (50 feet, 1 ¼ inches) was the best of all collegiate competitors and was his second-best jump of the season.

The Gamecocks will finish action at Virginia Tech tomorrow with the 400m. The team will also compete at home in the Gamecock Invitational, beginning tomorrow morning at the team’s indoor facility.
