COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina men’s golf team moved up two spots to No. 5 in the Golfstat Relative Rankings released on Wednesday.

The Gamecocks recorded their seventh-straight top-five finish on Tuesday, claiming third place at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational with a total of 841 (-11), which is the eighth lowest 54-hole total in school history. Carolina finished ahead of three teams ranked in last week’s top 10, as No. 1 Illinois finished seventh, No. 10 UCLA finished eighth and No. 5 Georgia Tech placed 10th.

Carolina is the highest ranked SEC team and one of four league schools in the top 10. Vanderbilt is No. 6, followed by No. 7 LSU and No. 10 Auburn.

The Gamecocks will close out their regular season March 29-31 at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. The 54-hole event will be contested at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
