Annual Garnet & Black Game Set for April 11
April 8, 2015
The University of South Carolina football team will wrap up its spring drills on Saturday, April 11, with the annual Garnet & Black Spring Game. Admission is free for the noon contest at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The spring game is scheduled for four 12-minute quarters. The clock will stop during the first half and will run continuously in the second half. The offense will wear garnet jerseys, while the defense will wear white jerseys. The teams will be determined by the jersey color of the quarterback.
At halftime, Head Coach Steve Spurrier will present the annual football spring awards. In addition, Coach Spurrier will recognize the players who have donned the Garnet & Black over the past 10 years as part of a weekend reunion.
Parking for the Garnet & Black Spring Game will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The athletic department’s Key Road lot will open at 8 a.m. and is free to all patrons. The Fairgrounds (Gate 10) and Gamecock Park lots will open at 9 a.m., with spots available for $10 each.
The Williams-Brice Stadium gates will open at 10:30 a.m. Due to on-going construction around the stadium, only the west stands (both upper and lower) and north stands will be accessible to the public. All fans should enter the stadium on either the west (Bluff Road) side (Gates 1-10) or through Student Gates 25 and 26 (off George Rogers Blvd.) to enter the north end zone seating area.
The football season poster will be available in Gamecock Village with a limit of five (5) per person.
The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network + and on the WatchESPN app with Dave Lamont providing the play-by-play, Booger McFarland adding the color commentary and Kaylee Hartung working as the sideline reporter. In addition, the contest will be shown live on the SEC Network Alternate Channel for periods of time as they “whip around” to other SEC spring games. The game will re-air in its entirety on the SEC Network several times over the next month.
