Gamecocks Return to Practice Fields Monday
Aug. 10, 2015
The University of South Carolina football team returned to the practice fields on Monday morning for their sixth practice of the spring.
Following the two-hour workout, head coach Steve Spurrier announced to the team that running backs Darius Paulk and Rod Talley would be placed on scholarship.
“Darius and Rod earned their scholarships in part because of their excellent summer conditioning and because of the effort as special teams players. They both will be on several of our special team units this fall.”
Paulk is a 5-8, 198-pound redshirt junior hometown product from Columbia’s Richland Northeast High School. He played two seasons at North Greenville before transferring to South Carolina in the spring of 2014. He is the younger brother of former Gamecock standout linebacker Rodney Paulk.
Talley is a 5-10, 201-pound redshirt sophomore from Laurens, S.C. He played one season at Gardner-Webb before transferring to South Carolina in January of 2014.
Coach Spurrier also announced that redshirt freshman cornerback Wesley Green is no longer a member of the team. “It was mutually decided that that Wesley needs a fresh start someone else,” said the Head Ball Coach.
The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields Tuesday morning, beginning at 8:30 a.m. That practice is closed.
