The Gamecocks are heading into the race with plenty of confidence after entering the USTFCCCA’s regional rankings on Monday. After a solid weekend of times at the Winthrop Invitational, the team moved up to number 14 in the Southeast Regional. All in all, six runners set new personal bests and 13 of the 15 runners went for a season best at Winthrop. Mary Reiser led the team with a second-place finish in the field of 139. Appalachian State, which is ranked eighth in the region, won the team race over Carolina, 20 to 43.

This Wednesday, the team will compete against local colleges. The Citadel, Claflin, Cocker and South Carolina State are all scheduled to run at the USC Open. There will be a men’s race right at 6 p.m., followed immediately after by the women’s event.
