COLUMBIA, S.C. — Former University of South Carolina men’s golfers Wesley Bryan and Mark Silvers III earned their Web.com Tour Cards on Sunday after finishing Qualifying School at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., among the top 45.
Bryan (2008 to 2012) placed T-9th after shooting a 6-under 280 (67-71-72-70), while Silvers III (2005 to 2009) placed T-34th with a 3-under 283 (75-71-71-66). Silvers III earned his card a year ago as well after finishing T-14th.
Bryan of Chapin, S.C., was a two-time PING All-Southeast Region selection and named to the 2010 All-SEC Second Team. Bryan made the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2009 and was a four-time honoree on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Bryan claimed two individual tournament titles during his career at Carolina with the 2008 Rees Jones Intercollegiate (tie) and the 2012 Seahawk Invitational. He ranks 10th all-time at the school in career scoring average with a 73.23 mark and is T-9th in career top-10s with 12.
A native of Savannah, Ga., Silvers III was a Golf Coaches Association of America Honorable Mention All-America selection and a second-team All-SEC member as a senior at South Carolina in 2009. He was also named the 2009 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. As a senior, Silvers III recorded eight top-10s, including four top-5s and a tie for 18th showing at the NCAA Championship. He ranks eighth in school history in career scoring average with a 73.15.
Former Gamecock Mark Anderson (2004 to 2008) also participated in Qualifying School and finished 141st with a 12-over 298 (72-73-76-77).
The Web.com Tour kicks off the 2016 season with the Panama Claro Championship at Panama Golf Club in Panama City, Panama, over January 29 to February 1.
