Men's Hoops To Hold Third Annual 8K In 8 Days Campaign

June 30, 2016

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s basketball team will hold the Third Annual “8K In 8 Days” campaign this July, which is aimed at reaching 8,000 fans in the greater Columbia community and the State of South Carolina with community outreach over the course of eight days, July 6-13.

South Carolina recorded an historic 2015-16 campaign, matching the school record with 25 victories, while setting the school record for regular-season wins with 24. Carolina finished the campaign ranked 31st in the nation in average attendance, which ranked fifth in the SEC, and 22nd in the nation and third in the SEC in total attendance. Just shy of 12,000 fans attended Carolina basketball games this season.

“We are excited once again, as we have the previous two summers, to engage in our ‘8K In 8 Days’ campaign, where we try to touch the lives of 8,000 people in eight days as a basketball program,” Gamecock head coach Frank Martin said. “Educating our players as to the importance of community involvement is a big part of their career learning curve while in college. We use this time to thank our fans, to thank them for the way that they have continued to support us and the amount of growth that we have shown in our attendance, because without them our program can never reach the heights that we aspire to reach. Hats off to everyone involved that has made this a better event for three consecutive years.”

The campaign kicks off on Wednesday, July 6, when the Gamecocks host young basketball fans from the City of Columbia for a clinic at Colonial Life Arena. Members of the team will visit the Dorn Veteran Affairs Medical Center on July 7, before spending time at Epworth Children’s home on July 8. The squad will sign letters to season ticket holders over the weekend, before an event at Brookland Baptist Church on July 11, followed by events with the Special Olympics on July 12 and the Richland County Sheriff Department on July 13 to conclude the campaign.

Season ticket prices for the upcoming season remain unchanged, with full season packages starting at $90. Like last season, fans can purchase lower level season tickets for $260 (Gamecock Club membership required for sections 104-106, 113-115), the Coke Family Sections are available for $600 (four tickets) and upper level tickets are available for $200 (no Gamecock Club membership required). End zone seating in the upper level is priced at four seats for $360. University Faculty/Staff members receive a 20% discount on lower level and upper level ticket prices.
