RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL. – 2015 South Carolina graduate Jeannelle Scheper made her Olympic debut Thursday morning, competing in the qualifying round of the women’s high jump. Scheper, who was competing for her home country of Saint Lucia, finished 25th overall and went out at 1.89 meters (6-2 ¼). She will not advance to the Saturday final.

Scheper opened with a miss on her first bar, 1.80 meters, but cruised to clear her next three attempts in quick succession for 1.80, 1.84 and 1.89 meters. The 1.92 bar would prove to be tricky for most of the field, and Scheper bowed out of the competition after three misses at the height. The automatic qualification standard was 1.94 meters.
