MAUI, Hawaii — South Carolina is tied for fourth at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic after shooting 280 (-4) on Saturday in the second round. The Gamecocks are tied with No. 24 Clemson and Kansas in the team race at 6-under-par.
Scott Stevens and Keenan Huskey are both tied for fifth individually at 6-under for the tournament. Stevens paced Carolina after tying a career 18-hole low score with a 65 today. He posted nine birdies and shot 3-under on both the front nine (34) and the back nine (31). His 13 total birdies are tied for the field lead after two rounds of play.
Huskey finished the day at 1-under after carding a second round 70. The Greenville, S.C., native tallied five birdies en route to recording his sixth round under-par in the fall season. Huskey will be gunning for his second consecutive top-10 finish at the tournament Sunday. He took sixth at last year’s Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic.
Ben Dietrich is tied for 39th after carding a 71 (E) Saturday. He shot 35 (-2) on the frontside and 36 (+2) on the backside. Dietrich logged two birdies on the day, both coming on the front nine.
Sophomore Ryan Stachler is tied for 69th after a tallying a second round 76 (+5). He shot 38 (+1) on the front nine and 38 (+4). The Alpharetta, Ga. native, had three birdies on the day.
Sophomore Will Miles got back on track Saturday, logging a 74 (+3). He shot 37 (E) on the front and 37 (+3) on the back with three brides in the round.
Carolina is in striking distance still but will have some ground to makeup on Sunday. No. 15 Georgia shot 18-under (266) Saturday to take a 10-shot lead over the rest of the field. Kansas (-17, 267) and No. 7 Oklahoma (-13, 271) each went low too on Saturday with stellar second rounds.

“Scott played great today and his round really saved us. We lost a few shots coming in, which hurt a little bit. Otherwise, I thought we looked pretty good overall. I’m really looking forward to the team coming out focused and ready to play tomorrow for the final round.”
Round Changer
Stevens carded one of the lowest rounds of the day in the field with his 65. His nine birdies were tied for the field lead and his 13 total birdies are tied four the field lead after two rounds of play. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native’s, 65 tied a career-low 18-hole score Saturday. He’s tied for the field lead in par-5 scoring average at 4.00 (-6).

South Carolina will be off for the next three months before the start of the spring season. The Gamecocks will be back in action February 17 when the team travels to Humble, Texas for the All-American Intercollegiate.
