Venue: Gilliam Indoor Stadium

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The University of South Carolina track & field team capped a strong weekend at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with two more Gamecocks earning First Team All-America accolades. Natasha Dicks finished on the podium in the triple jump, and Ncincilili Titi placed eighth in the 200m. Also, the women’s 4x400m relay squad ended the event as Second Team All-Americans.

Overall, the Gamecocks finished 25th on the women’s side, with nine points. It’s the best NCAA indoor finish for the Gamecocks since 2014, when Carolina placed 19th, and it also clinches a third-straight season of at least one top-25 women’s finish for head coach Curtis Frye’s team after the Gamecocks tied for 20th in 2015 and 25th in 2016 at the NCAA outdoor meet.

The Carolina men finished the weekend tied for 36th with five points, their best result at the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2012.

Dicks recorded only one counting jump on Saturday, but it was enough to lift the senior to her second career NCAA podium. Her mark of 44 2 ½ is a new PR and school record. The jump was third best on the leaderboard after two attempts and held for a podium spot through the final four rounds.

Already the only Gamecock female student-athlete to earn indoor All-America accolades in the triple jump, Dicks is now a three-time All-American after earning the honor last season both indoors and outdoors.

Titi placed eighth in the 200m with a time of 21.03. The eighth-place finish is the best of the junior’s career at an NCAA Championships event. He is now a four-time All-American, a distinction he shares with just 20 other Gamecocks on the men’s side.

In the last race of the night, Carolina’s quartet of Precious Holmes, Tyler Brockington, Aliyah Abrams and Briana Haith finished ninth in the 4x400m relay. The Gamecocks took third in their heat with a season-best time of 3:32.14 and earned Second Team All-America honors.

Brockington is now a nine-time All-American, with ranks 11th in Carolina history. Haith became the 25th Gamecock to achieve four career All-America honors, while Holmes and Abrams joined Dicks as three-time All-Americans, which makes 46 three-time honorees in program history.

Dicks and Titi are joined by Josh Awotunde (shot put) and Rougui Sow (long jump) as First Team All-Americans this weekend.

QUOTING HEAD COACH Curtis Frye

“We’re very proud of Natasha, but we knew she would (be an All-American). She always rises to the occasion at the national championship. We’re excited for Natasha, and we’re excited for Carolina — overall the number 25 team in the country. It was awesome. The girls did a wonderful job. I am proud of everything about today. Titi did a great job today. The girls who ran the mile relay ran out of their minds. Everybody that was in the meet was an All-American.”
