Gamecocks Finish Sixth In Final USA Today Coaches Poll

COLUMBIA, S.C. – After posting a school record 26 wins, and advancing to its first ever Final Four, South Carolina is ranked sixth in the final USA Today Coaches Poll that was released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gamecocks, who finished the season with a 26-11 overall record, advanced to their first NCAA Tournament since 2004 this March, and defeated three of the top four seeds in the East Region to advance to the Final Four in Phoenix. Carolina’s 93-73 victory over Marquette in the Tournament’s First Round marked the first Gamecock NCAA Tournament win since 1973.

North Carolina claimed the top spot in the poll following their national championship on Monday night, followed by Gonzaga, Oregon, Kansas and Kentucky in the top five.
