Leemet Takes Fourth at Bulldog Decathlon

ATHENS, Ga. — University of South Carolina senior Markus Leemet finished fourth at the Bulldog Decathlon, which wrapped up Sunday at the Spec Towns Track. Leemet ended the two-day meet with 7,382 points in his first decathlon of the season.

Georgia’s Devon Williams won the meet on his home track with a score of 8,345, just 126 points off the collegiate decathlon record.

Leemet entered the day in sixth place but rose two positions by the end of the day. He set PRs on Sunday in the 110mH (15.03) and the discus (121-10).

Leemet’s score of 7,382 is the fourth-best decathlon mark in the NCAA East Region this season and ranks 11th nationally.

Leemet’s teammate, Alexandre Asselin, also competed in the Bulldog Decathlon but did not participate in the last three events. The junior was in ninth place after one day of action.

South Carolina is back home next week, for the Gamecock Invitational. The second meet in the history of Sheila & Morris Cregger Track will be held Saturday, April 15.
