The National Champion South Carolina women’s basketball team spent the afternoon at the South Carolina State House, visiting with the state legislators and Governor Henry McMaster to commemorate the Gamecocks’ national championship. Head coach Dawn Staley was given the honor of speaking to the General Assembly, addressing both the House and the Senate to thank them for their support of women’s basketball throughout the season and in their role in helping the State of South Carolina become home to many postseason events like the SEC Tournament in Greenville this spring. The team then visited with Gov. McMaster, who proclaimed it South Carolina Women’s Basketball day in the state and presented the team with the flag that flew over the State House for two days immediately following the team’s national title.
