Gamecock Student-Athletes Reach 21-Consecutive Semesters of 3.0 GPA

The University of South Carolina student-athletes continued to have academic success in spring 2017. The departmental GPA of 3.230 for the spring 2017 semester gave the department 21-consecutive semesters in which the student-athletes have combined for a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Women’s Swimming & Diving (3.705) earned its second highest GPA to date, logging the highest GPA among all athletic teams. Equestrian (3.488), Women’s Soccer (3.567), Men’s Track & Field (3.265) and Volleyball (3.673) all earned its second-highest GPA ever recorded. Fourteen of the eighteen teams earned a 3.0 or better GPA.
The department named 66 student-athletes to the President’s List, 164 to the Dean’s List, and 353 to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (3.0). South Carolina graduated 81 student-athletes with another 23 on track to graduate in August.
“Our student-athletes continue to show diligence and focus in the classroom that is beyond impressive,” said Maria Hickman, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics and Student Development. “As an academic staff, we consider ourselves fortunate every day to work with students whose academic standards continue to rise.”
