COLUMBIA, S.C. – Spots remain in Bev Smith Softball Camps this summer, with six different clinics set for July 5-12 at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field.
The first camp offered is for those starting the sport of softball. The Lil Gamecocks Camp is designed for ages 5-8 that want to learn to play. The cost is $105 for the two-day morning camp.
Also on July 5-6, the Gamecocks Advanced Softball Camp will be held. The full-day camp will teach all-around techniques of the game of softball, with the sessions designed for players from 9-17. There’s also an add-on speed and agility session for the second day of camp. Full details are at BevSmithSoftball.com.
Two different hitting day clinics are scheduled as well. The Advanced Hitting Clinic is set for the morning of July 7 and is for ages 9-17, while the Elite Hitting — The Gamecock Way session is on the afternoon of July 11 and is designed for players entering grades 8-12 this fall. Both will focus on the skills needed to succeed at the plate, whether you’re a power hitter or a slapper.
The Pitching and Catching Specialty Camp will be held over July 10-11. The morning camp, designed for ages 10-20, will work on all aspects of these positions. Players who sign up will be grouped according to skill level. There’s also two add-ons to this clinic as well, a hitting session on July 10 and an arm care class earlier on July 11.
The final Bev Smith Softball Camp offering in July is the day-long Next Level Camp on July 12. Open to players entering eighth grade or higher in the fall of 2017, this is designed to prepare players for elite travel ball and college competition and will include game strategies, mental approach as well as advanced skill development.
While signing up at BevSmithSoftball.com, players are reminded to fill out the medical forms found there, which are required for clinic participants.
All camps are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number of participants, age, grade level and/or gender).
