COLUMBIA, S.C. ââ’¬” South Carolina women’s golfers Ainhoa Olarra and Ana Pelaez both advanced to match play at the 114th Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship following Wednesday’s final round of stroke play in South Wales. The pair of Gamecocks, who earned All-America honors from Golfweek earlier today, finished inside the top-64 through 36 holes at Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club to clinch a berth in the match-play bracket.

Olarra posted a two-round mark of 147 (+5) to finish in 39th place. The San Sebastian, Spain, native opened the tournament with a 71 (E) Tuesday before carding a 76 (+5) in Wednesday’s second round. She totaled five birdies over the first two days, registering one on No. 11 each round.

Pelaez, who ended stroke play in 58th place, totaled a 36-hole score of 149 (+7). The Carolina standout recorded three birdies in her opening-round 73 (+2) before adding two more on Wednesday en route to a 76 (+5).

The first two match-play rounds will take place on Thursday before the third round and quarterfinals get underway on Friday. The semifinals and championship match are set for Saturday, and the winner of the Ladies’ British Open Amateur will earn a spot in next month’s U.S. Women’s Open and August’s Ricoh Women’s British Open.
