Tomas Peribonio Finishes 20th in 200-meter IM at World Championships

BUDAPEST, Hungary – South Carolina senior Tomas Peribonio placed 20th in the 200-meter individual medley at the FINA World Championships Wednesday morning.
The Gamecock swimmer clocked a time of 2:01.21 to finish seventh in heat five. Peribonio represents Ecuador on the international level and competes again on Sunday, July 30, in the 400-meter individual medley.
At the 2017 FINA World Championships, fellow senior Akram Mahmoud narrowly missed qualifying for finals in the 800-meter freestyle on Tuesday, finishing ninth out of 30 competitors. Mahmoud will get another opportunity to compete as he swims in the 1500-meter freestyle on Saturday, July 29.
