COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer held its first practice of the 2017 season Wednesday morning. The Gamecocks returned to action on their practice field, where they held a 90-minute training session before participating in their second practice of the day in the afternoon.
South Carolina will continue to train over the next week in preparation for its exhibition match at College of Charleston on Thu., Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. ET. The Gamecocks open the regular season at home against UCF on Fri., Aug. 18, at Stone Stadium. Kickoff against the Knights is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Carolina returns five starters and 12 letterwinners from last year’s squad that captured the 2016 SEC Regular-Season Championship after posting a perfect 11-0-0 league mark. The Gamecocks set single-season program records for wins (21) and victories over ranked opponents (5) last fall en route to the program’s second NCAA Elite Eight appearance in the last three years.
