Sept. 8, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina Athletics Department announced Friday that the 2018 SEC Equestrian Championship will now be held March 30-31, 2018, at One Wood Farm in Blythewood, S.C. The Championship has been shifted back one week to better accommodate SEC teams in their preparations for the 2018 NCEA Championship, which will be held April 19-21 in Waco, Texas, one week later than its traditional slot.

Southeastern Conference by-laws state that the conference championship should be held exactly three weekends before the national championship. After the NCEA announced dates of its event in July, South Carolina head coach Boo Major, University of South Carolina athletics administration and the Southeastern Conference began preparations to hold the SEC Championship one week later than originally scheduled, with details being finalized on Friday.

The 2018 SEC Championship semifinals will now be held Friday, March 30, 2018, with the championship and consolation matches to be held one day later.
