Gamecocks Hit The Road For Georgia

Nov. 2, 2017

Equestrian vs. #1 Georgia

Bishop, GA. — Fresh off a home-opening win over No. 5 Oklahoma State last week, the Gamecocks return to action this Friday at No. 1 Georgia in search of the squad’s first road win of the young season.

A win would halt Carolina’s two-meet road losing streak, and give the Gamecocks a two-meet winning streak overall. South Carolina last defeated a top-ranked team on April 18, 2015, when it defeated No. 1 Georgia to win the NCEA National Championship.

UGA EQUESTRIAN COMPLEX

UGA competes at the UGA Equestrian Complex, located at 1171 Astondale Road in Bishop, GA. The Bulldogs will provide live stats for the meet, with the link listed above.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS

Carolina comes into the meet against the Bulldogs with a 1-2 record on the season following a dominate 13-7 victory over No. 5 Oklahoma State in its home opener. Through three meets, Madison Brayman (Equitation on the Flat) and Lauren Fabiano (Equitation Over Fences) remain undefeated with 3-0 records thus far.

After her performance for the month of September, Paisley Roberts was named the SEC Rider of the Month for Reining. Madison Thiel, Brayman, Chloe Schmidt, Paige Stopperich and Fabiano have all picked up MOP honors thus far.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

No. 1 Georgia comes into the meet with a perfect 3-0 record with wins over Fresno State, Texas A&M and TCU. The Bulldogs have won their meets by a combined 34-20. Friday’s meet will be Georgia’s second home meet, as well as their second SEC competition.

THE LAST TIME OUT

The last time out, Carolina rolled through No. 5 Oklahoma State in an impressive 13-7 win over the Cowgirls at One Wood Farm. The win halted a two-meet losing streak for the Gamecocks and kept Carolina perfect at home on the young season.

Paige Stopperich (Horsemanship), Chloe Schmidt (Equitation on the flat) and Lauren Fabiano (Equitation Over Fences) all took home MOP honors following the win.

SERIES HISTORY

The Gamecocks are 10-19-1 since 2006-07 against the Bulldogs, as Georgia has taken the last two meets. During that time, Georgia owns the longest-winning streak with three-straight wins from 2011-2012. Carolina’s last win in Bishop came on Feb. 8, 2014, in a 10-9 victory.

Following the Georgia meet, Carolina returns home for a meeting with Auburn on Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. for the final meet of the fall semester before competition resumes in January. Live stats will be provided on gamecocksonline.com while updates will be provided on social media.
