Gamecocks Continue Winning Weekend at Georgia Tech and Niceville

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis earned individual wins at the Georgia Tech Invitational and the Niceville ITF Futures on Sunday. Paul Jubb moved on to the third round of the Niceville ITF Qualifier while four Gamecocks earned wins at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

At the Niceville ITF Futures, Paul Jubb advanced to the semifinals of the qualifying bracket over Hamish Stewart with a score of 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. He will compete again on Monday against New Zealand’s Edward Cristian Stocia.

Yancy Dennis came on strong through the second two sets against Michael Kay from Georgia Tech winning his final match of the Georgia Tech Invitational 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Mayronne also earned a victory, taking first in the consolation bracket with a win over Ammar Alhaqbani of Virginia, finishing 6-2, 6-4.

Wood Benton picked up a win over Virginia’s Jefferson Dockter, who had to withdraw due to injury after a 6-1 first set. Thomas Brown earned another win for the Gamecocks, topping Fliksaws Sakalauskas of Virginia Tech 7-6 (6), 6-2.
