Gamecocks Host Tigers In Final Meet Of The Fall

Nov. 16, 2017

Equestrian vs. #4 Auburn

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — No. 10 South Carolina equestrian returns to action for the last time in 2017 Friday at 1 p.m. when it plays host to No. 4 Auburn at One Wood Farm.

A win would halt Carolina’s one-meet losing streak and improve the Gamecocks to 2-3 on the young season. A victory would also keep Carolina undefeated at home this year as the Gamecocks defeated No. 5 Oklahoma State at One Wood farm on Oct. 27 in a 13-7 win.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT ONE WOOD

Tickets are not required at One Wood Farm and admission is free. Please remember, dogs are not allowed at meets. For those unable to make it, live stats will be provided on gamecocksonline.com while updates will be on social media.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS

Carolina comes into the meet against the Tigers with a 1-3 record on the season following its 14-6 loss at No. 1 Georgia. Through four meets, Lauren Fabiano (Equitation Over Fences) remains undefeated with 4-0 records thus far.

After her performance for the month of September, Paisley Roberts was named the SEC Rider of the Month for Reining. Madison Thiel, Brayman, Chloe Schmidt, Paige Stopperich and Fabiano have all picked up MOP honors thus far.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

No. 4 Auburn comes into the meet with a 2-2 record, including an 0-2 mark in SEC play. The Tigers boast a 1-1 record in road meets after a 12-8 loss at No. 1 Georgia on Nov. 10. The Tigers lone road win came on Sept. 22 at Tennessee-Martin in a 13-7 victory.

THE LAST TIME OUT

The last time out, Carolina fell to No. 1 Georgia in Bishop, Ga, 14-6. The Gamecocks trailed just 6-4 at halftime following Equitation Over Fences and Horsemanship but a late Bulldog charge proved to be the difference in the meet.

Georgia swept all four MOP honors in the victory.

SERIES HISTORY

The Gamecocks are 14-17 since 2006-07 against the Tigers, as Auburn has taken the last seven meets. Prior to the Auburn streak, South Carolina controlled the series with a six-meet winning streak of its own.
