No. 25 South Carolina men’s tennis is set for its third match of the weekend against Old Dominion on Sunday. The team is coming off Friday’s doubleheader, which it split with a win over Howard and a loss to William & Mary. The Gamecocks take on the Monarchs at 1 p.m. in Norfolk, Va., at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

The Gamecocks swept Howard 7-0 on Friday in the second match of their doubleheader, rallying after a loss to the host school, William & Mary. The team showed its strength in doubles, going 5-0 through both matches and 8-4 in singles.

GAMECOCK NOTABLES

  • South Carolina is ranked No. 25 in the Oracle/ITA Division I Rankings, the organization announced Wednesday. The ranking makes South Carolina one of five Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the top 25.
  • The ITA released new singles and doubles rankings for the first time since Nov. 15 on Wednesday. The Gamecocks had three individuals ranked in the top 125: Francisco Cerundolo at No. 87, Yancy Dennis at No. 95 and Gabriel Friedrich at No. 109.

QUICK HITS: OLD DOMINION

  • The Monarchs are 4-2 on the season, with two matches lined up for the weekend. They will face off against Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday afternoon before taking on the Gamecocks on Sunday.
  • Old Dominion’s doubles lineup features the No. 22 duo in the nation, Aziz Kijametovic and Fancois Musitelli. The pair is 4-1 in doubles this season.
  • South Carolina leads the series between the two teams 7-0. The Gamecocks and Monarchs last met last season when South Carolina took down Old Dominion 4-1 at home.
