COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina baseball team continues its road swing with a midweek game at The Citadel. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Joe Riley Park, home of the Charleston Riverdogs, the Low-A afilliate of the New York Yankees.

The game will be streamed for free on the SoCon Digital Network. Every game will be on the IMG Gamecock Radio Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call.

South Carolina lost 2-of-3 games at Kentucky this past weekend, routing the Wildcats 15-1 on Saturday night.

SCOUTING THE CITADEL

> The Bulldogs were swept by Samford this past weekend in Charleston. Bryce Leasure had three hits in the series opener. William Kinney leads The Citadel with a .330 batting average, five home runs and 21 RBI. Taylor Cothran and Ben Peden have eight doubles apiece. On the mound, Dylan Spence has a 3.46 ERA in eight starts with 34 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched.

SERIES VS. THE CITADEL

> South Carolina has a 132-49-1 series advantage on The Citadel heading into Tuesday’s game. The Citadel won the first meeting between the two teams, 4-3, in Columbia on March 20. Ben Peden hit the game-winning home run in the top of the ninth. Carlos Cortes had two hits in the loss, including a home run in the seventh inning that tied the game at three.

MORRIS SHUTS DOWN UK OFFENSE

> Cody Morris tied his career high in both innings pitched (6.0) and strikeouts (10) while allowing just three hits and a run in the 15-1 win over Kentucky on April 7. Morris struck out eight of the first nine Wildcat batters and allowed just one solo home run in the win. Morris earned his sixth win of the season and third in conference play.

TAYLOR DRIVES IN FIVE

> Hunter Taylor had two doubles and a two-run home run in South Carolina’s 19-1 win over Kentucky on April 7. He doubled in a run in the second, scoring Jonah Bride for Carolina’s first run. In the third, Taylor belted a two-run home run, his sixth of the season. He ended the night with a two-run double in the eighth. Taylor also had five RBI in the win over Winthrop on Feb. 21.

BRIDGES PICKS UP THE SAVE

> Sawyer Bridges picked up his first career save in Saturday’s win over Kentucky, pitching the final three innings and allowing just one hit with a pair of strikeouts. Bridges has a microscopic 0.59 ERA with just 11 hits allowed in 15.1 innings pitched.

> After Carlos Cortes‘ third-inning home run vs. Kentucky on April 8, South Carolina now has 46 home runs on the season, which is tied for seventh in the nation. Twelve different players have home runs this season and the home run total is 18 more than last year’s total after 32 games.
