2017-18 NCEA Academic Honor Roll
WACO, Texas — The University of South Carolina equestrian team’s academic excellence was on display again Tuesday as the NCEA announced its 2017-18 Academic Honor Roll. The Gamecocks placed 19 student-athletes on the squad, tops in the nation for the second-straight year.
Raleigh Bacharach, Madison Butehorn, Kate Eagleton, Lauren Fabiano, Emma Farber, Caroline Gute, Sarah Isgett, Meredith Milton, Megan Overberg, Kirklen Petersen, Hanna Powers, Jaana Rasmussen, Paisley Roberts, Chloe Schmidt, Jordan Scott, Madison Sellman, Paige Stopperich, Madison Thiel and Bailey Walters were recognized Tuesday for their classroom success. Carolina’s 19 honorees led the nation, with Georgia and Oklahoma State each having 16 on the squad.
The NCEA Academic Honor Roll recognizes the top academic student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring (2017) and fall (2017) semesters, respectively. There is no competition requirement on this award.
Last week, the Gamecocks led the NCEA with 12 All-Academic Team selections. Additionally, Overberg was recognized as SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the conference championship meet; it’s the third-straight season a Gamecock has won the award.
