Celebrating 10 Seasons of Dawn Staley

On May 7, 2008, South Carolina announced the hiring of Dawn Staley as its women’s basketball coach ââ’¬” three-time Olympic gold medalist, five-time WNBA All-Star and three-time college All-American Dawn Staley. The hire instantly elevated the program’s stature. Over the last 10 season, Staley delivered on the promises she made in her introductory press conference to “affect the lives of young people on a daily basis,” “bring national prominence to South Carolina,” encourage fans to “embrace our basketball team in a way like no other,” and to build a program “synonymous with working hard and doing things the right way.” 
Fans and her former student-athletes helped celebrate the day on Twitter, where Staley had a chance to share her thoughts on how her former players shaped her as well. Twitter Moments – Staley 10th Anniversary.
