COLUMBIA — The University of South Carolina baseball team heads to Greenville, N.C., and East Carolina University, for the Greenville Regional featuring East Carolina, Ohio State and UNC Wilmington.

NOTES:
South Carolina will head to the NCAA Tournament for the 32nd time in school history as the Gamecocks will travel to Greenville, N.C., and East Carolina University this weekend. Carolina will face Ohio State on Friday at 2 p.m. If the Gamecocks win that game, it will play on Saturday at 5 p.m. while the loser’s bracket game will take place at noon.
Carolina is coming off a 1-2 week at the SEC Tournament, defeating Missouri 4-2 to advance to the double elimination portion of the tournament. Carolina then fell to Arkansas 13-8 and LSU 4-2 in 12 innings.
LT Tolbert was named to the All-SEC Tournament team after hitting .538 (7-for-13) with a double, triple, home run, three runs scored and five RBI in Carolina’s three tournament games. He had career-highs of four hits and five RBI in the game against Arkansas (May 23) and tripled and scored the game-tying run against LSU (May 24) that sent the game to extra innings. Tolbert opened the tournament with a pair of hits and a run scored in the 4-2 win over Missouri (May 22).
South Carolina will face Ohio State for the first time in NCAA Tournament play. The Gamecocks are 13-6 all-time against the Buckeyes with the last meeting occurring in 1988. Carolina is 7-2 all-time against East Carolina in the tournament and is 2-0 against UNC Wilmington.
Carolina is one of 10 SEC teams to make the NCAA Tournament. The Gamecocks played seven of those teams in the regular season and faced Arkansas and LSU in the SEC Tournament.
The winner of the Greenville Regional will face the winner of the Fayetteville Regional, which features Arkansas, Southern Miss, Dallas Baptist and Oral Roberts, in next week’s Super Regionals.
