Gamecocks ranked eighth to open season

WACO, Texas – The South Carolina equestrian team enters the season at No. 8 in the NCEA Preseason Rankings as announced by the NCEA Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Gamecocks are picking up right where they left off last season after ending the year at the No. 8 spot. 
 
Carolina is one of four SEC schools beginning the season in the top 10. Of the Gamecocks’ 12 opponents, eight sit inside the top-10 rankings, setting South Carolina up for one of the toughest schedules in the country.
 
The Gamecocks open their season by hosting No. 6 SMU on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m., at One Wood Farm in Blythewood.
