Gute Named SEC Reining Rider of the Month
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina junior Caroline Gute was named the SEC Reining Rider of the Month for the month of October as announced on Thursday afternoon.
Gute went 2-0 during the month of October with both of her wins coming against No. 2-ranked teams at Once Wood Farm. First, the Dublin, Ohio, native topped Julia Spreng of Georgia, 70-67, on Friday, October 5. Her three-point win was the clinching 10th point for the Gamecocks, giving them their first win of the season and upsetting the No. 2 Bulldogs, 10-9. Gute’s winning ride also claimed the Reining portion of the meet for Carolina, 2-1.
Competing against No. 2-ranked Texas A&M on Friday, October 12, Gute notched a 72-70.5 victory opposite of Darby Gardner. Gute’s high score also earned her MOP honors against the Aggies.
Gute currently holds a 3-2 overall record in Reining, including 2-1 when facing SEC opponents. Up next, Gute will ride against Fresno State and Baylor in the Gamecocks’ final meet, a tri-meet, of the fall season.
