Beach Volleyball Travels to Coastal Carolina for Saturday Doubleheader

The team faces CCU at 10 a.m. and UNCW at noon

CONWAY, S.C. – For just the second time in program history, South Carolina beach volleyball will play on the road in its home state, as the team prepares for a doubleheader Saturday in Conway. The event, hosted by Coastal Carolina, will put the Gamecocks against the Chanticleers at 10 a.m. and conference rival UNCW at noon.

Ranked in the top 10 in the national poll for the 16th-consecutive week, Carolina comes in with a 3-5 overall record – all five losses coming to nationally ranked opponents. Last weekend at the FAU Beach Burrow Bash, the team went 2-2 with wins over UAB and No. 4 LSU and losses to No. 5 Florida State and No. 18 FAU.

Coastal Carolina enters the weekend at 6-2 overall and riding a five-game win streak. It’s the best start in program history for the Chants, who are looking for the first win ever in the all-time series with South Carolina. UNCW has just one weekend of competition under its belt, going 1-2 last weekend in Jacksonville, Fla. The Seahawks beat Saint Leo but dropped 4-1 decisions to College of Charleston and North Florida. Senior Maddy Kline headlines the returning talent, she won 15 matches at the top position in 2018 but did lose her partner Nicole Lott to graduation.
