The Gamecocks defeated The Citadel on Tuesday before falling three times to Georgia on the weekend.

COLUMBIA –The University of South Carolina baseball team went 1-3 on the week, winning Tuesday night at The Citadel while being swept at home to Georgia on the weekend.

NOTES:
Carolina opened the week with a 10-9 win over The Citadel on Tuesday night. Luke Berryhill drove in four runs while TJ Hopkins and George Callil had two hits apiece. Daniel Lloyd earned the win on the mound, striking out three in 2.1 innings of work.
Carolina now has 37 home runs after 20 games this season. In the Georgia series, the Gamecocks hit five home runs, three of which came on Saturday. Jacob Olson took over the lead in the SEC with his eighth home run of the year.
TJ Shook earned the start on Sunday and after getting in and out of trouble in the first, settled down to allow just one hit while striking out six in four-plus innings of work. Shook has 20 strikeouts in his last 12 innings of work.
Chris Cullen had three hits in the Georgia series, driving in a run in Saturday’s game. Cullen currently has four home runs and 12 RBI on the season.
Carolina was swept in an SEC series at home for the first time since 2013 when it lost three to Arkansas. The Gamecocks started last season 1-5 in the league before rebounding to earn the fifth seed in the SEC Tournament and a Super Regional appearance.
South Carolina starts a four-game road trip this Tuesday against Furman in Greenville. Carolina then is at Tennessee this weekend, starting Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
