Signee Roussin-Bouchard Wins Italian Amateur Championship

ACAYA DI VERNOLE LE, Italy – South Carolina 2019 signee Pauline Roussin-Bouchard claimed the 2019 Italian Amateur Championship, coming from behind to win the 72-hole event to win her second Amateur Championship in as many months.
 
A Carqueiranne, France native, Roussin-Bouchard posted a four-round total of 287 at the Acaya Golf Club to finish the tournament 1-under. She carded a 69 (-3) in her final round of the tournament, coming from behind to claim the title.
 
After a tough 3-over 75 in the opening round, Roussin-Bouchard began her comeback with a 71 and 72 in her second and third rounds, respectively. She was able to complete the comeback in the final round, to claim the title. Roussin-Bouchard has been on a tear, she won the Portuguese Amateur Championship in February, carding a pair of 3-under 69 scores at the Montado Golf Resort.
 
The 2019 signee will join the Gamecocks next season. She moved into her highest World Amateur Golf ranking this past Wednesday, moving up to No. 39. She also moved up to No. 4 in the latest European Amateur Golf rankings, her personal best ranking since she was No. 7.
 
Additionally, Mathilde Claisse, another 2019 signee, finished in a tie for 22nd. She carded a 301, with an impressive 2-under 70 in her final round. She has been ranked as high as No. 69 in the World Amateur Golf rankings and currently is at No. 133. She also is inside the top 100 in the latest European Amateur Golf rankings.
 
No. 9 South Carolina is currently taking part in the Evans Derby Experience in Opelika, Ala. at the Saugahatchee Country Club. The Gamecocks will continue to take part in the tournament from March 23-25.
