Parrott Wins South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship on Father's Day

Rising junior went 5-0 with a 1-up win in 21 holes Sunday in the title match

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — Rising junior Jack Parrott won the 47th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship on Father’s Day Sunday, defeating Logan Sowell in the title bout 1-up in 21 holes.
 
Parrott led or was tied on 20 out of the 21 holes in the final match of the championship. He striped a 7-iron from 200 yards out on the 21st hole of the match with his second shot at the par-5 third hole. Parrott two-putted for birdie from 30 feet away to take home the trophy.
 
The Columbia, S.C., native, won five matches total at Columbia Country Club en route to the title. He went 2-0 on Friday with a 1-up win over McClure Thompson in the round of 32 and another 1-up win in 19 holes over Michael Sims in the round of 16. Parrott then took down Zachary Herold 2&1 in the quarterfinals and Christian Salzer 4&3 in the semifinals on Saturday.
 
The A.C. Flora product earned the No. 4 seed in the 32-man match play bracket after shooting 69 (-3) and 72 (E) in qualifying on Wednesday and Thursday.
