Carolina on to Tulsa for ITA All-American Championships

COLUMBIA, S.C.— The South Carolina men’s tennis team will travel to Tusa, Okla., to play in the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships. Six Gamecocks will compete in the tournament, led by sophomore No. 35 Daniel Rodrigues in the singles main draw and the No. 27 doubles pair of Raphael Lambling and Rodrigues in the doubles main draw.  The tournament will begin on Saturday with the singles prequalifiers in which Thomas Brown, Phillip Jordan, Beau Pelletier and Connor Thomson will represent the Gamecocks.
 
Following the prequalifiers, Lambling will play in the qualifying singles and Rodrigues will play in the main draw, which begins on October 9.
 
“Our expectations are that we bring Gamecock grit,” head coach Josh Goffi said, “We bring our fundamentals to the court. We make sure that people know what they’re going to get when they play that Carolina jersey across the net.”
 
The live airing of the finals marks another milestone for the ITA and college tennis as the ITA All-American Championships will air live on broadcast television for the first time.
The men’s final will air live on ESPNU beginning at 8 p.m. (CT) on Championship Sunday October 13. 
 
The University of Tulsa is hosting the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championship for the 15th-straight season, with matches taking place on the courts of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Qualifying singles and doubles will be held October 7-8, with main draw matches taking place October 9-13 .

In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players will be competing to secure a berth into the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 6-10, in Newport Beach, Calif. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
