Four Gamecocks Selected for Oracle ITA National Fall Championships
TEMPE, Ariz. – South Carolina women’s tennis’ Silvia Chinellato, Megan Davies, Mia Horvit and Emma Shelton have been selected to compete at the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, running Nov. 6-10 at the Newport Beach Tennis Club and The Tennis Club in Newport Beach, Calif.
Chinellato and Shelton will appear in the doubles draw together. Most recently, the duo advanced to the finals of the ITA Carolina Region Championships where they fell to the nation’s No. 1-ranked doubles team. That was their only loss on the season, giving them a 7-1 record.
Representing Carolina in singles are No. 49 Horvit and No. 125 Davies. At regionals, Davies made it to semifinals before dropping a tough match to the bracket’s No. 1-seeded competitor. At the ITA Women’s All-American Championships, Davies won-out in the Pre-Qualifying Draw, advancing to Qualifying. She lost her first match, but then went on to Consolation where she claimed both of her matches.
Horvit also competed at regionals and advanced to the round of 16. For All-Americans, Horvit was awarded a spot in the Main Draw. She fell in her first match and then went on to win a pair of matches in Main Draw Consolation.
