No. 15 Carolina Takes on No. 8 UCLA at ITA National Indoors

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s tennis team heads to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship for the second-straight year, this time hosted by Washington at the Seattle Tennis Center from Feb. 8-11.

No. 15 Carolina (4-1, 0-0 SEC) kicks off the tournament by playing No. 7-seeded and No. 8-ranked UCLA (4-0, 0-0 Pac 12) at 3 p.m., ET.

“It’s great to be heading out to Seattle to compete with the best teams in the nation for the second year in-a-row,” head coach Kevin Epley said. “Last year was a great year, but we weren’t thrilled with how we performed so we are looking forward to getting another shot at it.”

The Gamecocks head into their contest on a four-match win streak. Carolina has also won the doubles point in all five of its matches this season. No. 4-ranked Ingrid Gamarra Martins and Mia Horvit look to continue that momentum at the No. 1 spot. The duo is undefeated in dual matches at 3-0 and has an overall record of 13-2.

Competing at the No. 2 position, No. 23 Megan Davies and Rachel Rohrabacher also hold a 3-0 mark in duals. Overall, the tandem is 11-6. Playing on court three, Silvia Chinellato and Paige Cline have won two-straight, clinching the doubles point for the Gamecocks with both wins.

South Carolina also brings three ranked singles players to the matchup in No. 16 Gamarra Martins, No. 38 Cline and No. 79 Horvit.

The Bruins lead the all-time series, 3-0, including a win over South Carolina at last year’s ITA National Indoors, 4-1.

UCLA’s roster is home to three ranked individuals, including No. 18 Elysia Bolton, No. 77 Abi Altick and No. 117 Ayan Broomfield. The Bruins also have two doubles teams ranked back-to-back in the poll with Gabby Andrews and Broomfield at No. 14 and No. 15 Jada Hart and Bolton.

So far this season, UCLA is undefeated in doubles and has only lost one singles match, coming at No. 6.

Live scoring is available for the tournament and live streaming is accessible, but only at the Nordstrom Tennis Center location.
