No. 5 Gamecocks Close Out Regular-Season Play Against No. 26 Florida

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s tennis team competes in its final regular-season match as the Gamecocks travel to Gainesville, Fla., for a 10 a.m. ET matchup on Saturday against Florida at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
 
No. 5-ranked Carolina (16-3, 11-1 SEC) heads into the weekend on a six-match win streak, including five 4-0 victories. The No. 26 Gators (11-9, 7-5 SEC) have won two matches in-a-row, getting by No. 49 Auburn and No. 14 Michigan.
 
Florida leads the all-time series between the two schools, 45-2. South Carolina’s two wins over the Gators come in 1981, 5-4, and 1982, 5-4.
 
South Carolina
 
This season, the Gamecocks have blanked nine different opponents with 4-0 wins. Of those nine, seven were ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) top-50 at the time of play. Overall, 14 of Carolina’s 22 opponents this season have been ranked by the ITA.
 
No. 28 Paige Cline has notched six-consecutive matches at the No. 2 spot. Cline has a 9-3 record for the Gamecocks and is 18-6 overall.
 
Also on hot streaks in singles, No. 4-ranked Ingrid Martins, No. 102 Mia Horvit and Silvia Chinellato have each won three matches in-a-row.
 
In doubles, Kennedy Wicker and Megan Davies are on a four-match win streak and have tallied a dual record of 10-3 on court three. Against SEC opponents, the Gamecock duo sits at 9-2. On court one, No. 2-ranked Martins and Horvit are 7-1 in SEC matches and 11-2 in duals.
 
Florida
 
The Gators’ program is home to three ranked singles players, including No. 10 Ida Jarlskog, No. 37 McCartney Kessler and No. 94 Victoria Emma. Florida also has one ranked doubles team in No. 51 Kessler and Emma.
 
For the Gators, Jarlskog is 11-4 when playing at the No. 1 position and 26-10 overall. Kessler plays mostly at the No. 2 spot with a 9-7 mark in duals. Seeing time on courts two, three and four, Emma is 6-7 in dual matches and has an overall record of 14-11.
 
Kessler and Emma compete at the No. 1 doubles spot and have a dual mark of 7-6 and are 13-8 overall.
