Cline Earns Highest Singles Ranking of Collegiate Career at No. 23

TEMPE, Ariz. – South Carolina senior Paige Cline comes in at No. 23 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles poll, earning the highest ranking of her collegiate career.

Cline’s jump from No. 28 comes after she topped Florida’s No. 37-ranked McCartney Kessler in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, for Carolina’s first win over the Gators in 37 years.

Also moving up, junior Mia Horvit is now at No. 84 with a victory over No. 94 Victoria Emma, 6-4, 7-5, of Florida. Completing the Gamecocks individual rankings, senior Ingrid Martins stays put at No. 4 on the list.

In doubles, Martins and Horvit are back up to No. 1 in the ITA’s poll after defeating the Gators’ No. 51-ranked tandem of Kessler and Emma. Senior Rachel Rohrabacher and sophomore Megan Davies sit at the No. 37-ranked position for Carolina’s second ranked doubles team.

On the team list, South Carolina holds steady at No. 5, for their fourth-consecutive week in the top-five.

Up next, the Gamecocks are set to compete at the SEC Tournament, running from Wednesday through Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.
